Thanksgiving Break

A lot has happened since I last wrote...or what seems like a lot.

Exactly a week ago, I went to the first basketball game our team played at home. They played Castleton and won easily. It was pretty exciting. I then stayed with a friend to watch a second game (it was a weekend tournament with several teams), which was Suffolk against Clark University. Our very own RWU team ended up winning the tournament the next day by defeating Clark. I enjoy watching basketball...it’s always been a favorite sport of mine, so I think that I will find myself at a lot of the games this season.

Last Saturday, I helped out with Mr. RWU, which was put on by IRHA. Mr. RWU is kind of like a pageant, except most of the focus is put on the talent portion of the evening, which can be humorous, entertaining, or just plain cool. I had a great time. the only complaint I had was that it was a little longer than I would have liked it to have been. Still, it was a success, and the contestants raised a lot of money for the Children’s Miracle Network.

Sunday was spent in Providence again. This time, I didn’t stay as long. The weather has started to get a lot colder, so with the wind blowing, Providence was a cold place to be. I hopped on the bus an hour earlier than usual and spent the rest of the day in my cozy dorm room.

Classes on Monday and Tuesday blew by, and I found myself on my way home. I hadn’t been home yet, so it was hard to contain my excitement. The anticipation also made the ride longer. What began as an early Tuesday afternoon trip stretched into an evening trip, and I finally came to the front door of my house at a little past 10:30 at night.

It felt very good to be in my own room again, and I have been having a great break. I’ve spent a lot of time with some of my good friends from high school, and I’ve also done some shopping (on Black Friday, of course!). Thanksgiving was busy, warm, and cheery. And, of course, the food was delicious.

But, break is winding down because I return on Sunday. Now I have to start thinking about all the assignments I have coming up...a few papers for my writing class, a poster for my design class, several short papers for my human behavior class, a portfolio for my photo class...it’s going to be a lot of work! I’d better get started soon…

Check back in a little over a week and I’ll let you know how it’s going!
