College Continues

Last week began with a pleasant day spent mostly in Providence. I had a great time, and the day was beautiful. It seems to me like Sundays are always pretty nice...funny how that works out. I had lunch with some friends at Brown, and then I went to the Providence Place Mall. The mall has a lot of great stores, so it was hard for me to pick and choose what I wanted to buy. I got into the usual situation that most females do, that of spending more than planned. But looking at the positive side of things, I got some great new clothes.

On Monday night, Gabe Kapler, the former Red Sox player, came to talk about domestic violence. As part of IRHA (the group that put on the event), I showed up early and helped people coming in get situated. Kapler was a great speaker and got a great response from the audience. There was also a very extensive, interesting question and answer time. He fielded events concerning issues about domestic violence, but he also answered questions about his life as a major league baseball player. He spoke fondly of Manny and Ortiz and even defended Damon, saying that he was one of the nicest people he knew. Kapler also announced that he would be returning as a player next season, hoping to play for the Sox.

Since one of my best friends had her birthday on Wednesday, I decided (rather last minute), to take a trip to Boston on the weekend to visit her. I cannot say how many times how nice it is to have Boston within reach. I’m used to it taking hours and hours to get there. Anyways, I had a fantastic time. We dined and shopped in Boston, and I enjoyed walking around the city. It was very cold, though, so we had to make a trip to Starbucks to get some hot chocolate.

Yesterday, I went to Dance Club’s fall performance. All the participants did a great job. The music was awesome...the dancing was awesome...the choreography was awesome...the costumes were awesome. I had a great time. A few of my friends were in it, so I got the opportunity to cheer very loudly. As a side note, for anyone who loves to dance but doesn’t plan on majoring in dance, Dance Club is definitely a good option.

My classes are continuing normally. Photo projects and essays have come and gone. I am currently working on another photo project, and my big assignment for Expository Writing is to revise two essays and also write a proposal paper. It’s going to be a lot of work, but I know I’ll get through it somehow.

Today was my day to register for classes for the spring semester. It is a very stressful process! I did a lot of running about, trying to get into a certain class that had become full (classes fill up fast). The problem still hasn’t been resolved, but I registered for another class that will serve as a replacement if I’m never able to get into the other class.

It is now very late, so I’m afraid that’s all for now. Check back later for pictures…
