Heritage Pride Day: 9.20.07 – Part II
During the first two weeks of the semester everyone was given the opportunity to purchase what I call a Heritage tee. Here’s what it looked like.
Everyone’s Heritage tee was different. But regardless of the culture on the shirt, the statement on every shirt was true. That was the idea. MCLSA celebrates every culture.
These are just a few of the pictures from the event.
You might be wondering why some of the shirts were grey and some were white. MCLSA board members got grey t-shirts. All other shirts were white. You see, people have a natural affinity to ask things like, “how come your shirt is grey?” Giving each board member the opportunity to explain, “it’s grey because I am the education chair” or social chair, secretary...whatever the case may be. We thought the t-shirt event could double as a visual way to introduce the members of the board.
I said this in the remarks I made at the Heritage Pride Celebration, but I think it is worth repeating. All we did was provide appetizers and t-shirts. This event would be nothing without the enthusiasm of the participants.
