Heritage Pride at RWU!

Welcome back Blog readers!

This has been quite a summer ladies and gentlemen. I can honestly say that my summer has given me a newfound appreciation for those rare individuals among us who are successfully able to multitask. Because believe me, any one task is that much more difficult when there are several others urgently vying for your attention. The real task becomes keeping your sanity long enough to even decide where to begin.

It has been a summer of old friends and new adventures, small sacrifices and big rewards, and let’s not forget sweltering heat! This was my first summer in Rhode Island. And it is beautiful here in the summer. As you may already know, Roger Williams is located right on the water. But in addition, there are beautiful beaches, a fourth of July parade that is unmatched anywhere in the United States, and of course, Waterfire. Rhode Island’s answer to the Venitian gondola ride.

Interestingly enough, I sat down to write a blog entry about a month ago. It was July 16th to be exact. But a not so funny thing happened on the way to the computer. I discovered that I had another writing task to complete first. Shortly after I completed that writing task another interesting phenomena emerged. Suddenly everyone in America was a Roger Williams University Life as a law student blogger. I thought to myself, who needs me when you can read about Roger Williams University in the Wall Street Journal?

Then I realized, in all the mention our school received in the media, there was still an important part of the message that was missing. There was much talk of “reactions” and “responses.” On behalf of the MCLSA of RWU, our response is to manifest our pride. On September 20th, MCLSA will celebrate Heritage Pride Day. It is a celebration of all the cultures represented in the membership. Every proud member of the organization and the law school community will wear their pride on their chests in the form of a Heritage Pride tee. And I encourage everyone to be proud today tomorrow and every day.
