Finals…need I say more?

I know it has been a while since I’ve posted.  The thing is I am currently involved in a very serious and extremely monogamous relationship with my schoolwork.  And it has gotten even more serious these past few weeks.  For the past three weeks I have been heavily embroiled in the epic struggle for willpower and endurance that is final exam season.  So today I decided to come up for a little air.  During exams my whole life becomes a mad dash to the library punctuated with the minor inconveniences of eating and sleeping.  The importance of every errand is measured in terms of how much time it will take away from my studying.  Simple things like balancing a checkbook, grocery shopping or even laundry, seem so much more time-consuming when you have a Constitutional Law exam looming in your very immediate future.  If an errand is adjudged too time-consuming, it simply does not make the cut.  Incidentally, my checkbook is in a state of disarray, I do not have a single grocery item in my refrigerator and I have needed a new pair of glasses for at least two weeks.  But I have four out of five finals under my belt.  I can see the finish line from here.  But until I am done with the fifth, life can wait.

You might be wondering why this entry does not carry the ‘pomp and circumstance’ of a final entry, especially since it is the end of both the semester and the year.  Well that is because this is not my final entry of the year.  I have every intention of posting one more entry after I turn in my last final exam.  My final entry of the year will, in all likelihood, be a vivid description of the rush of euphoria that I will no doubt be feeling at that time.

While we are on the topic, I plan to continue ‘blogging’ throughout the next academic year as well.  And 2007-2008 is already shaping up to be a very different but very promising year.  Many of my friends will be graduating from law school this year and going on to pursue the world of legal practice, travel and endless other possibilities.  A new class of 1L’s will be joining us here at Roger Williams, of course.  Lorraine Lalli will assume her new role as the Assistant Dean of Students.  If you ask me, RWU could not have made a better choice.  And I will assume my new role as the President of the Multicultural Law Students Association.  The executive board and I already have our gears turning and we are very excited about next year.

But first, I need to conquer my Criminal Procedure Exam next week.  After that, I will have a nice long rest.  And when I do, I will rest easy knowing that freedom of speech is alive and well at Tufts University.
