Euphoria Mixed With Nostalgia

When I woke up this morning the birds were chirping, the sun was shining…everything was beautiful this morning.  It was like something out of a Disney movie.  I am almost certain there were other beautiful days, but I spent most of them in the library, so I really can’t be sure.  I had my last final of my second year of law school yesterday.  This was the first morning in three weeks that I did not have to run to the library to frantically cram as much studying into one day as I could.  Now I am off to bask in the glory that is summer while I temporarily explore the world of full time employment and part time school.

It has been a great year.  For MCLSA, the year has been full of successful education workshops, mentorship program events, and discussions of topics such as Domestic Violence, Juvenile Justice and the Death Penalty.  For the Pro Bono Collaborative, the year was marked with two extremely successful legal rights education workshops on the topics of Immigration and Housing Law presented to the individuals served by the Children’s Friend Services.  For the Moot Court Board, there was an outstanding display of advocacy during the 1L mini moot court competition.  These events have all been the hallmarks of my experience here at Roger Williams University.  And I am proud to have been a part of all these things and more.

I will be starting at the General Counsel’s office at Brown University next week.  I’ll also be writing briefs and memos for an attorney who owns a small private practice in Providence.  And I will be taking a class, Advanced Criminal Procedure with Professor Ritchie, one of my favorite subjects with one of my favorite professors. I also have to write a Bench brief for the Moot Court Board.  If you are not a former or current law student that phrase probably means nothing to you.  All it means is that I get the chance to write an argument about a very interesting legal issue.  And in my spare time, I have to do some beginning planning for next year’s MCLSA events.  So it is going to be a busy summer.

But that does not start for another week.  For now, I am going to visit some family, say my goodbyes to my graduating schoolmates and then take a well needed break.
