Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Awarded
Roger Williams University School of Law has awarded the Thurgood Marshall Memorial Scholarship to Rodelyn Alcidonis,’09, Philadelphia, Pa. The scholarship honors the late Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, who served with distinction and as a protector of civil rights as Solicitor General of the United States and later as the first African American to serve on the United States Supreme Court. The award goes to a law student who has completed the second-year of studies and has demonstrated academic merit and leadership skills.
Rod is a member of the Multi-Cultural Law Students Association, Street Law, and National Trial Team. He participated in the Esther Clark Moot Court Competition and represented his class in Student vs. Faculty Jeopardy. This fall semester, Rod is the first visually handicapped student to serve as a student attorney with our Criminal Defense Clinic and he previously completed internships with the Philadelphia Community Legal Services and the R.I. Disability Law Center, in Providence. Rod earned his B.A. at Plattsburg State University of New York. Congratulants to a terrific all-round student!
