Prof. Kuckes and National Experts Convene in D.C. to Discuss Grand Jury Reform

image RWU Law Prof. Niki Kuckes was recently in the middle of a high-level discussion of the work of grand juries, sponsored by George Washington University School of Law.  The program, an installment in GW’s “Scholarship Roundtable,” featured presenters from around the country, including Judge Michael Hawkins (9th Circuit), Prof. Andy Leipold (Illinois), Steven Saltzburg (GW), and Kevin Washburn (Harvard/Minnesota).

Prof. Kuckes was asked to comment on a presentation by Prof. Sara Sun Beale (Duke) entitled “Grand Jury Reform: What Problem(s) Are We Trying to Solve?” To do so, Prof. Kuckes drew upon her articles “The Democratic Prosecutor: Explaining the Constitutional Function of the Federal Grand Jury” from the Georgetown Law Journal and “The Useful, Dangerous Fiction of Grand Jury Independence,” from the American Criminal Law Review
