Fifth Annual Legal Career Options Day

One of the great ideas our Assistant Dean for Career Services, Anthony Bastone, brought with him from the University of Colorado School of Law is “Legal Career Options Day,” (LCOD) a chance for students to meet (I hate the word “network”) with a broad array of lawyers in a single, comfortable setting.  Tony always recruits an eclectic array of lawyers who demonstrate, as he says, “the versatility of the J.D. degree.”

The fifth edition of LCOD was a big hit as students got a chance to speak with judges, legal aid lawyers, a federal prosecutor, a state public defender, military lawyers, in-house counsel, private practitioners from many practice settings, the state Child Advocate, an author, and many more.

One of the traditions at LCOD is the presentation of the “Distinguished Service Award” to a lawyer or judge who goes above and beyond for RWU Law students.  This year the award went to the Honorable Daniel Procaccini, Associate Justice of the RI Superior Court, who provides our students unique inside looks at the workings of the judicial system.

Here are some photos from that terrific event.
