“Genuine Tort Reform” Proposals Hit the Street

imageThe most recent issue of the Roger Williams University Law Review is now en route to not just the usual subscribers, but every Torts teacher in legal education, plus key judges and practitioners.  This unusually broad distribution is the result of a generous grant from American Association for Justice Robert L. Habush Endowment.  The genesis of the grant, a symposium on campus, and now the law review issue, was an idea of my colleague Carl Bogus (author of Why Lawsuits Are Good for America).  He wanted some of the top scholars in the field to make one or two proposals to improve the civil justice system (instead of the more typical effort to dismantle the system).  The result of a lot of deep thought, and spirited debate on campus last year, are essays by Jay Feinman (Rutgers-Camden), Valerie Hans (Cornell), Ross Cheit (Brown University), Deborah Hensler (Stanford), Joseph Sanders (Houston), Peter Schuck (Yale), and Ellen Wetheimer (Villanova).  Click here for Prof. Bogus’ introductory essay.
