Cape Wind Author Speaks at RWU - And on the Daily Show
One of the most controversial environmental issues in New England is a proposal to place wind generation turbines off the coast of Massachusetts. While it is a great place to “harvest” the strong and regular wind gusts, the turbines would be visible from land, and, as a result locals, some of them very powerful, have opposed to the project.
Our Marine Affairs Institute recently hosted Wendy Williams, the author of Cape Wind: Money, Celebrity, Class, Politics and the Battle for America’s Energy Future on Nantucket Sound. The attendees were treated to a spirited, insider’s look at how the Kennedys and other wealthy folk--political liberals all--have worked to block the environmentally-friendly project. Ms. Williams also screened a hilarious clip on the controversy, shown originally on Jon Stewart’s Daily Show. Click here for a link to Ms. Williams’ webpage.
