Board of Directors:  Robin Steinberg

Roger Williams is very fortunate to have terrific lawyers and judges who provide guidance by serving on the School of Law Board of Directors.  They are:

Ron Cass, Dean Emeritus, Boston University School of Law
Roscoe Howard, former United States Attorney for the District of Columbia
Robert Kent, Professor Emeritus, Cornell and Roger Williams Schools of Law
Gloria Larson, Esq., President, Bentley College
Dr. William O’Hara, Esq., past President, Bryant University
Hon. Bruce Selya, United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit
Robin Steinberg, Founder and Executive Director, Bronx Defenders
Hon. Joseph Weisberger, Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court (ret.)

Past entries have focused on Roscoe Howard and Gloria Larson.

image Today I want to spotlight Robin Steinberg.  Robin, the Founder and Executive Director of the Bronx Defenders, is known nationally (indeed internationally) for developing and implementing a unique, holistic approach to providing representation to people charged with crimes.  The client-centered approach of the Bronx Defenders provides indigents with a range of professional services to tackle the cluster of social, economic, and psychological issues that often face indigents caught up in the criminal justice system.  Click here for more information on the Bronx Defenders.

Robin has shared her expertise with lawyers and public servants around the world, in programs sponsored by both the U.S. government (for the Department of State and the Department of Justice), as well as NGO’s like the Open Society Institute.  Among her many awards is the National Legal Aid Defenders and the Robert J. Kutak Foundation Kutak-Dodd Award, for her “exceptional vision, devotion and service in the quest for equal justice.” Robin’s deep experience in public service meshes perfectly with the commitment to helping the less fortunate that we try to instill in all of our students.
