Art in the Atrium
You never know what you will find hanging on the walls of the second floor atrium of the law school. Since 2005 the area has featured a rotating exhibit with work from local artists. This is the outcome of a relationship with the Bristol Art Museum, part of our effort to support and collaborate with the local artistic community. (Click here for an item on the screening last year of an important documentary on Rhode Island’s involvement in the slave trade.) It is a win-win: artists get a forum to show their pieces to the 700+ folks who are in the building on a regular basis (plus countless others attending bar meetings, moot court competitions, etc.) and our daily lives are enriched by a terrific range of works, from large scale oils to small black and white photos.
Our exhibitions of Eileen Mayhew, Jan Amor, Alan Nunes, and Mark Freedman have all explored themes in nature, adopting a unique perspective. From the placid boats at full sail in Nunes’ photographs to the dark industrial waterfronts in Freedman’s paintings, the images are aesthetically pleasing and visually stimulating.
The second floor atrium gallery is now showing “Group Show: A Solo Exhibit,” oil paintings by Mark Freedman. Below is a preview of the work of Richard Harrington, which will go up later in the summer.
