1L Selected as the American Bar Association’s Environmental Law Fellow

image1L Ashley Ham Pong was selected as the American Bar Association’s Environmental Law Fellow for the summer of 2008.  Ashley will work as an Environmental Law Fellow under the direct supervision of Kristen Fletcher, Executive Director of the Coastal States Organization (CSO) in Washington, D.C. (and former Director of the Marine Affairs Institute at RWU Law).  Ashley will assist the CSO with its mission of supporting the coastal states, commonwealths and territories in the protection, conservation, responsible use and sustainable economic development of the nation’s coastal, ocean and Great Lakes resources.

Ashley’s interest in environmental law will serve her well as she works on the draft framework to get the Coastal Zone Management Act re-authorized and climate change policy focusing on the rising sea levels.  She will also take part in the Capitol Hill Oceans Week hosted by the CSO.  The three-day symposium will bring together members of Congress, representatives of the federal and state government, industry, academia, and nonprofits to focus on current ocean and coastal issues.

The fellowship is sponsored in part by the Thurgood Marshall Law Society and Leo’s Ristorante, Bristol, R.I.

Congratulations Ashley!
