The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

After a wonderfully refreshing week in Longboat Key, Florida, I am back to school for the final stretch until summer is upon us.  In my mind, this is the best part of school.  Spending those seven days in Florida with my boyfriend and two close friends, I feel as though my batteries have been recharged and I am ready to face the final five weeks of school.  Spring Break could not have come at a better time; in the weeks proceeding, I was in high-stress mode.  Between prepping and competing in the Mediation Competition, hundreds of pages of reading, hours of research and a 2 hour long interview on the day before leaving for Florida, I was in desperate need for a break.( Although, the interview was well-worth, I will be working for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island this summer!).

So after having spent some quality time in the sun, reading for pleasure and taking some well-deserved naps, I am fully ready to approach the last month of school before finals with fury.  Although, I must admit, there is some fun in my path between now and finals; the Barrister’s Ball is this Saturday at the Westin in Providence.  I went to the Ball last year and it was a blast.  It’s like a prom, only better (alcohol is served, legally!).  The Ball sells out every year and is a ton of fun; Professors and the Deans attend so it’s fun to see everyone in a more relaxed atmosphere.

But after this Saturday, there will be no more fun and games; its all about exams after this weekend.  I actually enjoy exam preparation because in the last few weeks of school, everything seems to come together and make sense.  I cannot tell you how many times I have done reading, thinking I understand everything, and leave class thinking I know nothing.  I’ve talked to classmates, and the same seems to happen at least once to everyone.  So although day to day learning may be a bit blurry, it seems by the time exam period comes, it is all crystal clear.  It’s nice, because it all comes together in the end; all the hard work and struggle does in fact pay off.
