Equal Justice Works
Well tonight I’m packing my bags. I will be leaving for Washington D.C. in the morning for the Equal Justice Works Career Fair. Living in D.C. is my dream. I have been going to D.C. once a year, every year since I was 7, and every year I fall more in love with the city. There is so much to do, so much to see. When you are in D.C. you are in the presence of greatness, walking in the shadows of the past. But the funny thing is that no matter how many times I have gone I always find something new and wonderful. However, this time my visit is not for fun, this visit is to go and hopefully find a job.
For those of you reading this who are just starting law school you will find that the closer you get to graduation the more scared you get that finding a job is an impossible mountain to climb. As the months tick away this feeling grows stronger and stronger in my mind, but I keep going, pushing forward because the only thing more terrifying than not finding a job is failing and just giving up. So no matter how scared I get, I just keep pushing on. I find that the more you get involved and the more you put your name out there the more people recognize you and, let’s face it, this tactic has to pay off at some point. So I’m going to D.C. to chase the dream, put my name out there, and take a leap of faith. Wish me luck.
